Woggle Hopping Festival 2025

The Woggle Hopping Festival will return for its second year on 26 July 2026, running from 12.00 pm to 4.00 pm, with all activities offered free of charge. The event will take place in Wilton Park and is delivered by Friends of Batley Library, Friends of Wilton Park, Batley History Group and Friends of Batley Station. It is a volunteer-led community group supporting inclusive local activity.

The festival is designed as a family-focused community event, providing accessible play, creative activities, and informal learning opportunities for children and their families. By removing cost barriers, the festival aims to ensure that all families can take part in a shared community experience.

Following a successful inaugural year, the second Woggle Hopping Festival builds on established learning and community feedback. The event places emphasis on simple, imaginative activities rather than commercial attractions, encouraging participation, creativity, and social interaction across age groups.

The festival also plays a wider role in strengthening community connections. Events of this nature contribute to social cohesion by bringing together families, volunteers, and local organisations in a shared environment, reinforcing a sense of belonging and collective ownership of public space.

The Woggle Hopping Festival is delivered by local volunteers, providing opportunities for community members to contribute skills, gain experience, and take an active role in local cultural life. Volunteering within community events has been shown to support confidence, social connection, and civic participation.

Families and residents are invited to attend the Woggle Hopping Festival on 26 July 2026 and take part in a free, inclusive afternoon of community activity.
