Mini Stories and Poems

Theme: Library Sounds

We are inviting children to share short stories or poems inspired by the sounds of the library.

What do you hear when you visit the library?
Pages turning, keyboards tapping, quiet footsteps, whispered conversations, the beep of the scanner, or the sound of a story being read aloud.

How to take part

  • Write a short story or poem about library sounds
  • Any style is welcome
  • Please include the child’s age
  • First names only

Word guide

  • Ages 4–6: up to 50 words
  • Ages 7–9: up to 100 words
  • Ages 10–12: up to 150 words

Submissions must be sent by a parent or guardian and may be edited for length or clarity. Selected entries will be published on the Together in Batley website as part of our Children’s Chatter section.
