Sayyed Iqbal Hussain Shah: One Man, Many Beginnings

Sayyed Iqbal Hussain Shah arrived in the UK around 1935, long before migration from South Asia became common. Born in India, he first worked as a painter and later opened a coffee shop in Birmingham. It was there he met Bridget Larvin, who was working in a wartime munitions factory. They married in 1947, listing their address as 50 Great Lister Street, Nechells, and soon moved to Batley, West Yorkshire.
